Shirt: Made by me with random materials//white jeggings: Korea// 50s vintage Gucci pumps: Goodwill// 70s vintage Christian Dior sunglasses: passed down by my aunt// vintage quilted bag on sale for $20!
And of course, earth day is every day when you buy second hand items! Since I was a young girl, I would go into consignment shops just because I could find unique things (back then, I was embarrassed for wearing second hand clothes). Now, as much as possible, I try to buy vintage clothes or re-design the ones I already have..and styling them with the gently used designer handbags, clothes, and accessories my mom and aunt have so graciously passed down.
Slow fashion and creativity is key, gals! (Try adding pearls and beads onto sweater, studs onto shoes, un-hemming sleeves off of blouses, wear skirts as dresses, or experiment with your boyfriend's t-shirts----guilty as charged).
According to USAgain,
an estimated 11 million tons and essentially 85% of all discarded textiles go to landfills every year. Check out the live stats to see how more than 3 million lbs of CO2 is being saved by donating used clothes and helping to sustain our earth….because recycling never goes out of style!
Peace and love,
Dom
